Fall In The #Lowcountry

As we finish up Thanksgiving as a family here in Mount Pleasant, we #Yankees, couldn’t be happier to find ourselves living in the beauty that is the lowcountry. Yes, many may say that we gave up on “the four seasons,” and to some extent, that is true. We have a delayed & abbreviated fall, followed by a very short winter that takes us into an early spring & before you know it, we’re back to summer weather! Starting in November it hits you like a whirlwind and before you know it you’re back in shorts, heading out on the water or to the beach with the family again. To some, that may not sound appealing, but to us, that’s part of the beauty.

Take today’s Thanksgiving agenda for example. We had our normal Italian Thanksgiving format of appetizers for lunch, a Thanksgiving dinner for dinner, and a late desert. But it was the time between lunch and dinner that truly made the day. Back north, the cold weather would have kept us on the couch in a tryptophan/Detroit Lions coma. But with the beautiful high 70s day we had today, that meant time to get out on the bikes and a walk for my wife & I. The kids decided to stay behind and play with their dolls & toys received for birthdays last week which meant mom and dad were able to get out, just the two of us to enjoy the day and enjoy one another. No heavy coats, no gloves, and no hats. Just pure, unadulterated fun spent together in the sun.

So, if you have had enough of winter, get yourselves out of the North! Leave the cold behind (we won’t get into the property taxes!) and join our community of #YankeesinCharleston!!!
