Our New Home For A Bit
February 4, 2018
The Haven @ Indigo Square
Having sold our home quickly in a hot market in NJ, we needed to find a rental to live in while we build our new home in Carolina Park. My wife, being someone who plans out all the details evaluated many different options in many different suburbs of Charleston. For us, ultimately, it came down to convenience. Convenience by way of distance to the beaches, distance to shopping, distance to restaurants, distance to the site of our new home, and of course distance to downtown Charleston. The Haven at Indigo Square checks all the boxes and more!
-
Conveniences:
- Mount Pleasant Towne Center right across route 17 that has major retailers, restaurants, salons, a Lowes (my favorite), Regal Cinemas, and much much more
- Starbucks within walking distance
- 4 minutes to Target
- Home 2 Suites right next door so visitors don’t need to squeeze into your apartment
- Publix being built in the complex
- CubeSmart storage right next door for all the items you cannot fit in your apartment
- 4 Miles from Isle of Palms – absolutely beautiful beaches!
-
Amenities:
- Pool – open year round, the pool area is a great space to spend time with the family outdoors, grill on the two natural gas grills they have available to the community, throw on the outdoor TVs to possibly catch a Buckeye game (or Clemson if that’s your choice), and enjoy the wonderful weather the Lowcountry provides!
- Fire Pits – throughout the community are quaint fire pits surrounded by seating for you to kick back and relax on the cooler evenings. With a turn of a knob, you have immediate heat. Our girls have already used them to make some smores!
- Grills – outside of the pool area are also a few large natural gas grills for your use
- Gym – hands down one of the best gyms I have ever seen for a small community – or even a high-end hotel for that matter! 2 Peloton bikes for free use, treadmills, recumbent bikes, machine-based weights, free weights, and even a digital studio where you can select a guided class from top industry names like Jillian Michaels or Zoomba!
- “Library” – As a consultant, I work from home many days out of the week. To change the scenery I will often head over to the library. This area of the main building is quiet, full of comfortable seating options with a ton of plugs (hey, we all have a ton of devices that need juice), a full kitchen and coffee bar – what else could you need?!?!?!
- Game Room – For when you find that free time, or want to let the kids let off some steam, there is a great game room full of high-end items like a sports simulator room, to pool tables, to arcade games and finally board/card games. Truly something for everyone!

Hidden Details
- Concierge Garbage – tie up your bag and place your garage bin outside your door in the evening. An attendant collects the trash for you!
- Package Concierge – text message/app based system to gain access to your packages – you know you do as much Amazon shopping as we do!
- Community Doggie Bags – unfortunately, we lost our dog a few weeks after moving in, to a rare disease, but having access to dispose of your dog’s mess throughout the community is extremely convenient – and of course, expected!
- Patio – who doesn’t love having their own outdoor space that is fully screened in?! Open the doors and live a little!
- Dog park being built
- Self-wash car wash station being built
- Nest thermostats to keep it cozy at all times
